WE MAKE SERIOUS PONTIAC HORSEPOWER
AND WE KNOW MORE ABOUT BUILDING STOCK PONTIAC ENGINES THAN ANYONE.
Man, this must have been fun. Driving your old jalopy out to the dry lakes after tuning 'er up the best you could.
Then it's wide open throttle for three miles. This pic is from Hot Rod August 1961.
Car looks well used. That 134 mph is damn respectable tho' for 1961. Class is A/G.
The story says it had a '59 Tri-Power engine in it.
He was bested by a Ford Ranchero that belonged to Buzz Lowe, a new one I'm guessing as the story said it had
the 375 hp 390c.i. in it. The Ford went 138.46 mph. Ever heard of Ak Miller? Yes, THAT
Ak Miller, legendary Ak Miller, that's who Doug BEAT for second place. Way cool.
Ak went 133.53 this day in another 390 Ford.
